SandCastles Grief and Loss Program

Camp Erin - Detroit

What is Camp Erin?

SandCastles is pleased to join a new partner in offering this year's camp.  Camp Erin was created and is funded by The Moyer Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by World Series champion and Major League Baseball All-Star pitcher, Jamie Moyer and his wife, Karen.  Camp Erin is the largest network of bereavement camps for children in the United States.

Camp Erin is an overnight bereavement camp for children and teens where they can interact with peers who have experienced similar losses. Children and teens can express their feelings of grief, learn coping skills and most importantly, begin a healthy healing process.

Educational packets will be given to the parents/guardians of the children and teens. Included is information on how children grieve and how adults can help facilitate a child’s journey through grief after camp.

Who Participates?

Any child or teen between the ages of 5 to 18 who has experienced the death of a family member, friend or other loved one is eligible to attend.  Staff from SandCastles Grief Support Program will run the camp with a trained group of volunteers.

When is Camp?

Friday August 14 through Sunday August 16, 2009.  Registration begins in May. The camp is limited to 125 children and teens, so please apply early.

Where is Camp
